Application and Reporting

Grant applicants must apply on the Whittenberger Foundation application form, which is available on this website or from the Whittenberger Foundation Secretary at 1803 Ellis Avenue in Caldwell. Mailing address is P.O. Box 1073, Caldwell, Idaho 83606-1073.

Eight copies of the grant application must be filed with the Secretary of the Foundation BEFORE the first day of September of each year. Applications received between September 1st and December 31st
will not
be considered. Applicants will generally be notified of the disposition of their requests in late November. Grants are publicly announced each year in December.

An applicant must be either a qualified public institution or an institution which has received tax-exempt status under Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code. A copy of the IRS determination letter must accompany each application.

Because the Foundation operates without a professional staff, applications are not pre-screened before review by the Board. Given the large number of applications received each year, the Board appreciates clarity and brevity.

Recipients of the grants are required to file a year-end report documenting the use of funds received. The Foundation may conduct additional evaluation as it deems appropriate.
